Steamed, chopped brussel sprouts for salads

Here’s an easy way to jazz up a salad:  Steam some brussel sprouts and then chop them up and add them to your salad.  I like to jazz up my salads.  The taste and warmth of the just-steamed brussel sprouts is very nice.

A few tips:

  • Before steaming, cut the tough end off of each brussel sprout and remove 1-2 of the darker outer layers or leaves.
  • I like to use Ziploc Zip ‘n Steam cooking bags for quick and easy microwave steaming.  They cost around $3 for 10 bags, but if you’re so inclined, you can rinse them out and reuse them.
